The Dr. Pepper Museum
The Dr. Pepper Museum sits inside an old bottling plant in Waco, Texas. No one would think that touring something like this would be interesting, but according to some locals and visitors, it really is. What makes this museum so special is that they still make Dr. Pepper here and with real cane sugar instead of the high fructose syrup that most plants use these days. When first walking into the museum, you will see a robot that looks like the man who created the recipe for Dr. Pepper. You will then see collectibles of old bottles, the machines used to make the Dr. Pepper, the gift shop and a caf? that sells some great treats. If you are a true Dr. Pepper lover you will definitely love the Dr. Pepper Museum.
Baylor University was founded back in 1845. It is part of the Big 12 Conference and is the largest Baptist university in the entire world. The Old Main Hall on campus was struck down in a tornado in 1953, but was later rebuilt in 1973. The original Old Main Hall was actually built in 1887.
Texas Ranger Museum
The original Texas Ranger Museum was built in 1837. Now there is a new Texas Ranger Museum and Hall of Fame, which was built next to the old one. When visiting the museum, you will see the history of the Texas Rangers, who were and still are the true symbol of Texas. Inside the complex of the museum is the Homer Garrison Museum, the Hall of Fame and the library.
Waco Suspension Bridge
The Waco Suspension Bridge was first built in 1870 to be a bridge for pedestrians and wagons to cross. Since it was built before the Brooklyn Bridge, 13 years before, it was once the longest bridge in the world. Many of the great Western Movement passed through this bridge making it a historical monument.
Mayborn Museum and Discovery Center
The Mayborn Museum and Discovery Center is a museum packed with Texas history. In this museum you will get to see displays of the era before our time, forests and caves, the American Buffalo or Bison, Native American People and the Longhorn Steer. You can also see the fossilized remains of the largest turtle ever found. Model train displays and a replica of a Comanche tipi and also on display.
While visiting Waco, Texas, you will never forget the many historical monuments on display during your trip. The many museums and the suspension bridge along with the old University will be in your memory forever.
